Clay and Glazes for the Potter
Published in Hardcover by A. & C. Black, Ltd. (January, 1988)
Author: Daniel Rhodes
Average review score:

An amazing text
This is a great introduction into clay and glazes for anyone with even the slightest interest in the medium. It's easy to read and gives tremendous amounts of information. I'll be referring to this text for years to come.

The book to read if you are serious about learning
This is the book we all learned from, over the years i have re-read parts that started to make sense to me, I was growing with the book. People ask me questions all day long, 90% are answered in this newly updated book, gone are the lead glazes of yesterday, welcome are new ingredients like cadycal.

Ceramic bible
This book has been my"ceramic bible" for the last 30 years. The best book on the market if you are really interested in clay and glazes technology. I have read it over and over during the last 30 years and it is at the base of my own book: "Substitutions for raw ceramic materials", for sale on Amazon.com. Every ceramist should own one.

The Clay Machine-Gun
Published in Hardcover by Faber & Faber (January, 1998)
Author: Victor Pelevin
Average review score:

Amazing, cool.
Pelevin gets deeper into reality--or maybe just questioning reality-- with each novel. I love that every plot point, even name and character could be completely crucial, or could not matter at all, simply depending on what you get out of the novel. His delicately detached protagonist (aptly named Voyd) reminds me of Murakami Haruki's pasta-making anti-heroes (who in fact turn out to be heroes after all). Most importantly, perhaps, I could probably read this book again and get something new and different out of it.

Most influencial book in the past 10 years
I read it in Russian. It's an amazing book. I am ordering an English translation out of curiousity. In my opinion, it is beyond translation (you will still have a lot of fun but unless you know Russian history and culture you will miss a lot of its power!) There is so much subtle beauty and deep meaning... + icredible humor -- even though it is a very profound piece of art, that explores the most mysterious puzzles of life. READ IT!

Delightfully Weird.
I'm rarely impressed with "absurd" books - in many of them, the plot and the message seems to disappear in all the weirdness, and the authors often seem to take easy ways out. Not so with Pelevin. This contemporary Russian writer has written a delightfully weird and sometimes hysterically funny book - I still haven't figured out what exactly it is he's trying to say, but I have a feeling there's something there...it's an impossible book to describe, but one that leaves you wanting to recommend it to everyone. Try it.

Colorado Wild: Preserving the Spirit and Beauty of Our Land
Published in Hardcover by Voyageur Press (September, 2002)
Authors: Judith B. Sellers, Willard Clay, and T. A. Barron
Average review score:

Much More Than Just a Pretty Face
The photos in this book are stunning and inspiring, a handsome overview of the state to the north of where I presently live. They are vivid reminders of why I moved to the West many years ago, and reinforce the fragility of Colorado's pristine beauty. What completely dazzled me though, was the splendidly crafted text from Judy Sellers, which made my imagination soar. Who could not be moved by this insightful look at Colorado's 'wild,' documented by someone who is actively working to preserve it? While this makes a beautiful coffee table book, it is much, much more, just like the state it portrays.

out of the way places
I have lived in and traveled through Colorado for 40 years and this beautiful book introduced me to places I didn't know existed. The photos and discriptions of the Colorado prarie are special and I shall be heading that way soon! First however a look at Cripple Creek and Leadville may be in order...I hope this book will inspire us all to save this beautiful state.

Wonderful writing and stunning photography
This book is a beautiful tour of Colorado . Very well-written with gorgeous photographs from the entire state. Reading this was a pleasure. If you love the outdoors, you'll love this book.

Finding One's Way With Clay: Creating Pinched Pottery and Working With Colored Clays
Published in Paperback by Clay Biscuit Books (November, 1997)
Authors: Paul S. Berensohn, Paulus Berensohn, and T. Kelly
Average review score:

Finding One's Way
Finding One's Way With Clay is a fresh as it was over 25 years ago when it was first written. It is both an eloquent how-to book as well as a provacative and inspirational look at the relationship between clay and the human being.

It's a Classic
After 25 years working in clay, I finally read Paulus Berensohn's "Finding One's Way with Clay". He describes many techniques for pinching pots, and ways to experiment with clay to create new expressions. The steps in making simple or complex hand modeled pieces are clearly explained, and I found them useful in teaching elementary art classes. There's also a thorough chapter on building a simple sawdust kiln.

fabulous book
This artist is truly unique. He is the God of the pinch pots. Highly reccommended. There are neat excersizes to use in classes that beginners to experienced ceramists can enjoy.

Making Miniature Flowers With Polymer Clay
Published in Paperback by North Light Books (August, 1998)
Author: Barbara Quast
Average review score:

Must-have polymer book, flowers are beautiful & easy to make
This is a must-have book for anyone wanting to learn to make beautiful miniature flowers. It is great book for all levels, even those who have never worked with polymer clay.

At first glance I though it would be hard and very time consuming. I was wrong. I was amazed at how easy it really was. In less than two hours, I had a very impressive looking rose bud.

The author first covers materials and how to work with polymer clay. Included templates help you judge size & shape. Each part of every flower is then explained step by step. Numerous color photos help to guide you.

Flowers covered include roses, dogwood, daisies, cherry blossoms, pansies, daffodils, and irises. There are a few projects in the back showing you how to frame the flowers and make jewelry or ornaments out of them.

excellent resource for life-like flowers!
I have many books on polymer clay and this is one of my favorites! The techiques show here can be applied to any sculpture but what impressed me was how lifelike these projects look! And with such detailed explanations and illustrations it is an easy jump to use these techiques to create flowers of your own choice. I have made figures from polymer clay for 7 years now and most books are repetitive to me, I found this one re-energized my creative juices and gave me something new to make, I now make minature flowers to adorn some of my figures and have been pleased with the new dimension it adds.

A primer for making flowers with polymer clay
Step-by-step instructions on how to make seven different flowers using polymer clay. Detailed diagrams and tips (from tools and materials to color blending). Good book for beginner flower artists in the polymer clay medium. Provides list of sources and references.

Average review score:

God's Smuggler Plus
This is an heirhoom edition which includes the text of Brother Andrew's world-wide best seller, God's Smuggler, plus snatches of other stories of the Persecuted Church. Also a CD of Jars of Clay. Highly recommended.

Awesome!
If you have never read Brother Andrews story, you have no idea what you are missing!!! It is such a page turning adventure! Hard to believe one man could go through so much! Also as a bonus there is a CD with Jars of Clays song "This Road" (a soul sturing song!). You can also put the CD in your computer and see Jars of Clay's pictures while they were visiting the persecuted church. This is a great book and will challenge you in the Lord!

Deep and meaningful this book was great!
I thought this book was really great, not only did it have factual information on the persecuted church and the countrys which suffer from intolerence. but also includes Brother Andrews life story. reading Andrews story i got caught up in the drama of it all. only to be constently remind that it wasent a story but real life. I found the many storys of God blessing Andrews incredible faith inspireing. Brother Andrew was an incredible man of faith and highly suggest this book.

Popular Sporting Rifle Cartridges
Published in Paperback by Random House Value Pub (December, 1986)
Authors: Clay Harvey and Outlet
Average review score:

Popular Sporting Rifle Cartridges
This book is an absolute must read for everyone with an interest in hunting North American big game out of a rifled bore. Harvey's folksy, yet accurate and analytic, style eclipses all others in the field (except, perhaps, Wayne Van Zwoll's "Elk Hunting & Cartridges"). Popular Sporting Rifle Cartidges can be read from cover to cover, or used as a handy reference book, covering the full gamut of popular hunting cartridges available at time of publication. Only an update by Harvey himself could surpass this book in value.

The best book of its type I've ever read.
I've worn the cover off mine. Mr. Harvey, if you are listening.........please.........Let us have a reprint in hardback.......and maybe even volume two... Clay Harvey is the best hardcore rife/hunting author since Jack O'Connor...

The best objective book concerning hunting cartridges ever!
Clay Harvey has an informed, easy-going style that translates easily into a sometimes humorous and always factual (as backed by real shooting bench data)account. He reviews a wide variety of cartridges, from the venerable .220 Swift to the modern day wildcats. If you don't have any idea what type of rifle/cartridge combo to buy for your next hunt or have been a rifleman for 20 years, this book will be thoroughly enjoyed by all.

Practical Review of Neuropathology
Published in Paperback by Lippincott Williams & Wilkins Publishers (15 July, 2001)
Authors: Gregory N., Phd Fuller, J. Clay, MD Goodman, Jonathan I. Epstein, and Ximing J. Young
Average review score:

Superb UnMatched Concise All N.path you need for the Board
If there is 7 stars rating i will do.
Well written straight forward, No BS.
Outstanding tables
could master Neuropatholgy (only to answer your Board question)in a week.
The only thing . hehehe, i had to read it backward!!
I guess thats have to do with me as a neurosurgeon !!
Wish it to be Online!! or as an E.Book or PDA format!!
Needs Review questions at the end of each chapter.

Fun with Neuropathology
Amazingly enough a concise, clear AND entertaining book about neuropathology. The only minus: The pictures are black and white - but on the other hand by this we are trained to memorize structures, not colours. So for me as a resident in neurology, a very good match - not a textbook but I do not want to become a neuropathologist but a neurologist to begin with...

Practical Review of Neuropathology
This text serves as an outstanding reference for medical students, neurology and pathology residents, as well as practicing pathologists and neurologists. Both authors have a great sense of humor, which adds to the enjoyment of reading this book.

Silencing the Enemy
Published in Paperback by Word Publishing (September, 1993)
Authors: Robert Clay and Robert Gay
Average review score:

Robert doesn't just write, He sings prophetic praises also
Look, you think this book is good? It's great, but you have to get the cd that goe's to it. Robert has at least 7 prophetic praises albums and they are all great, including the one that carries the same name as his books title here!

SATAN HATES THIS BOOK...YOU MUST READ IT!
In my personal opinion this book, next to the Bible, is the best book you can actually read, put down, then go and put into action what it teaches. The devil hates this book because he knows that if Christians from around the world actually PUT INTO ACTION what it teaches, he will scatter and be in torment. Praise and worship is not simply singing "nicey nice songs" but proclaiming the gospel which destroys the enemy. This book is very easy to read but gives you BIBLICAL reasons why praise and worship is so important. This book is not so much the authors opinion but it is all biblically based so that you can "check it out" for yourself so you can see if this guy knows what he's talking about. It will give you confidence to know who you really are in Jesus Christ. If you have to save for months to get this book...please...do whatever you can to get it because Jesus wants you to know and put into action that which is contained in this bookThis book has changed my life.

Revelational text on prophetic warfare praise and worship.
This a "must-read" for anyone serious about praise and worship or spiritual warfare. Every pastor and worship leader should be required to read this book! Robert Gay is a pioneer in this area, and leads by example (there is a companion music tape by the same name, and several other recordings that can give a better testimony than I could ever write.) This book shows several scripture passages in a new light that may surprise you! His style is practical and down to earth, not "spooky-spiritual." Very hard to put it down once you start it. Fortunately, it's not too large for reading comfortably in a couple of hours. Get your highlighter ready! But beware....you may learn more about who you are, and things will never be the same!
